5 STYLE had recently the chance to talk with Alexander Paskota, the founder of STEN, a new Swedish brand of bracelets for the stylish gentleman. We decided to ask him a few questions about his new Company, the products and his future plans.
CAN YOU GIVE US A SHORT INTRODUCTION ABOUT YOUR BRAND?
Sten is a jewellery and accessories brand for men based in Västerås, an hour west of Stockholm Sweden. Launched in the end of 2013 by Alexander Paskota, Sten is about creating quality, handmade and timeless accessories that you’ll hopefully pass on to the next generation.
Today a typical fashion item has a lifespan of 6 months until they are being sold out in stores, Sten works against that. It will perhaps cost you slightly more when buying a solid, classic item — but it last you longer and saves you money and world resources in the end. We hope that you can see and feel that when wearing any of our products.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO DESIGN JEWELLERY?
In 2013 working as a digital marketer the creativity I put in campaigns or websites had a very short lifespan and not really something you can show your kids when they grow up. So while I had the opportunity to go on parental leave when my youngest daughter was born I felt the energy and an urge to create something. My interest in fashion and marketing was the beginning of what then became Sten.
CAN YOU TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT THE MATERIALS THAT YOU USE AND THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
We want our products to look as good in 10 or 50 years as they do when they are new. So we are working with natural materials such as stone, leather and solid metals in high quality. You won’t find any gold plating or dyed stones in crazy colors when buying a Sten item. If your wire snaps in 10 years you can send it back to us for repair.
In Sweden and across Europe men’s style has changed the last 5 years. The beard trend have exploded, it is okay to go between different facial styles. Same goes for clothes, you don’t have to wear a black suit and black shoes at the office. And we men have never had so much options when it comes to fashion and style. So for me it is with the accessories you express your style and personality and bracelets was something anyone could wear.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT OF STEN IN 2015?
We will expand our range of handmade stone bracelets. We will also introduce bracelets in other material than stones. We are constantly working on giving our customers the best support when it comes to logistics, local support or service.
